Job site is Boyce Thompson Arboretum, located in Superior, AZ.
This position is responsible for maintaining and evaluating a large collection of trees and shrubs at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum. This position is also responsible for assisting in the development of collections. This is a part-time position with benefits. Benefits include health, dental, vision, and life insurance; paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays; UA/ASU/NAU tuition reduction for employee and qualified family members; retirement; and more.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* ResResponsible for the care and curation of trees and shrubs in the Australian Exhibit, Southwest Trees Exhibit, Picnic Grounds, Palm Grove and Canyon Area. Assists with other trees on the grounds as requested.
* DuDuties include pruning, watering, fertilizing, pest and disease control, safety evaluations, and the detailed record keeping of collection plants using BG Data Base and BG Map.
* Conducts tours and participates in special events.
* Presents lectures and demonstrations at the Arboretum an offsite at community meetings, seminars, etc.
* Writes articles as requested.
* Answers phones and email queries, and visitor questions.
* Provides work direction and training to other personnel and volunteers in the care and maintenance of the Arboretum's plants and grounds.

Minimum Qualifications
: Bachelor's degree in Horticulture or related field AND one year of horticultural experience; OR, five years of horticulture experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
* Knowledge of the principles of horticulture and arboriculture.
* Extensive knowledge of the care, maintenance and pruning of large trees.
* Certified Arborist.
* Certified Tree Worker.
* Good computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Able to work outside in the heat of the summer.
