Hints to Scientific Writing:
Do we really need a table or figure?

Although these data are very important to the manuscript, effectively only two data points are included in a table that takes up a fair amount of space.  One alternative would be to further emphasize this point with a histogram or bar graph if you do not already have too many figures.  The length of the paper could be significantly reduced simply by collapsing the information in the table into the text.  For example, one way to combine the info on home ranges in the text is as follows:

Home ranges of the sexes did not differ (males: 0.1 + 0.1 ha, females: 0.1 + 0.1 ha; t=0.02, df=28,
                16, p>0.99, Table 1).
