Hints to Scientific Writing:
                             Table 'Titles', 'Legend', or 'Captions'

   The rule of thumb with tables and figures is to produce a graphic that can be understood without the text of the article.  Hand it to a friend and ask them to explain what the figure is about as the ultimate test.  A detailed title/caption/legend is a must--DO NOT have a table with the title: 'Table 1' or 'Table 1.  Data on deer.'
