May 27, 2008

FOCUS ON FACULTY:

Congratulations to the following 2008 Association of Natural Resource Extension Professionals (ANREP) award winners: Barron Orr received the Career Leadership Award that recognizes achievements of experienced ANREP members who exhibit leadership and excellence in planning, designing, delivering, and evaluating Extension natural resources programs throughout their careers. Mike Crimmins received the Early Career Leadership Award that recognizes achievements of ANREP members with less than five years of Extension experience. Only one Career award and one Early Career award are given, so Arizona is very proud to have members receive both honors. Kristine Uhlman received a bronze communication award for her video submission. Jeff Schalau began his term as the Western Regional Representative. The awards were presented at the conference recently held in Madison , Wisconsin .

FOCUS ON PROGRAMS:

On Friday, May 23, there was a dedication ceremony for the Firewise Interpretive Exhibit at the Pima County Cooperative Extension Office. The exhibit is a representation of a home located in a Southern Arizona wildland urban interface setting, providing homeowners with information on how to create survivable space in and around their homes and property. The project has been five years in the making and was accomplished through the efforts of Federal and State Land Management Agencies, the UA and the contractual and charitable efforts of local professionals and businesses.
