FOCUS ON FACULTY:

Rick Gibson assumed the presidency of the NACAA (National Association of County Agricultural Agents) last Thursday evening at their awards banquet in Greensboro, North Carolina. Rick was joined by his wife Lexia, 4 children and 4 grandchildren. I was honored to join his table and share in this special occasion. Ten or so Ag Agents attended the conference, many receiving awards and most presenting papers/posters. The Distinguished Service Award went to Jim Sprinkle; the Achievement Award winner was Randy Norton. NACAA has about 3200 members. Its first meeting was held in 1916 in Chicago, IL and there has been no other national officer from Arizona. Sam Stedman and Don Howell shared a four year term as western region vice director/director, and as such, they were members of the national board, but they were not national officers. Congratulations, Rick, you bring honor to both yourself and the state of Arizona!
