Areas of Emphasis in the Crop Production Major

Agronomy

Students pursuing this recently established Option in the Crops Major gain special experience in the science and technologies important in the production of field and vegetable crops in an arid environment. Special emphasis is placed on soil and water science, agricultural economics, and pest management.

Turfgrass

Turfgrass is a prominent component of many outdoor recreational facilities and landscapes. Coursework in this Option of the Crops Major will prepare students to pursue careers in turfgrass and landscape management. Biological and physical aspects of turfgrasses and their management and their interaction with the environment are emphasized.
