Jose A. Lopez Valenzuela received a BS degree in Biochemical Engineering in 1993 and a M.Sc. degree in Food Science and Technology in 1996, both from the Universidad Autónoma de Sinaloa, Mexico. His master's research work was developed at CINVESTAV-IPN, U. Irapuato under the supervision of Dr. Octavio Paredes Lopez. He joined the Larkins Lab in the fall of 1997 to pursue a Ph.D. in Plant Sciences under a CONACyT scholarship. His research is focused on the nutritional quality of maize, in particular, the characterization of lysine rich proteins to understand the mechanisms regulating their accumulation during endosperm development. |
