Roberto Lizarraga Guerra is the lab's big daddy. Besides taking care of his 4 kids he manages the time to pursue his PhD degree. He got his master degree in La Universidad Autonoma de Sinaloa in Food Sciences (1995). Back in Mexico, where he holds a teaching position in the Agriculture School in the Universidad Autonoma de Sinaloa, his research was related with identification of main aroma compound in Huitlacoche. Now, his research involves the mapping of modifier genes in maize endosperm. Modifier genes make the opaque mutant endosperm become vitreous and they have been used to develop QPM material (Quality Protein Maize). |
