Yan Liu received a Ph.D. degree in Plant Genetics and Breeding from Beijing Agricultural University in 1997. His Ph.D. research focused on genetic engineering of salt tolerance in maize (Science in China, 42(1), 90-95, 1999). In the fall of 1997, Yan Liu began his postdoctoral research with Bruce P. Wassaman at Rutgers University. He studied starch biosynthesis during maize endosperm development. Yan Liu joined the Larkins lab in November 1998. He is working to pinpoint the functions of pocket protein (Rb) in maize cell cycle regulation. |
