En esta clase se discute acerca de varios sistemas de riego y se enfoca en el diseño, instalación y programación de riego por goteo. Su mantenimiento  e identificación de problemas.

Esta clase se enfoca en: Características principales de los controles de riego. Incluyendo programación y ajustes de acuerdo con el factor de ET (Evapotranspiración) / y la demanda por agua, estación del año y cambios del clima.

Reducir el uso del agua, reduciendo su desperdicio, creando un sistema de riego eficiente. Los estudiantes aprenderán acerca de los horarios de riego (programas), técnicas de irrigación y prácticas culturales y explica todos los factores que se aprenden durante toda la serie del programa  que influencian el buen manejo del agua en los jardines en general.

Esta clase se enfoca en: Aprender a integrar los conceptos básicos en la operación de los sistemas de riego de acuerdo con el tipo de planta, propiedades del suelo y la capacidad del  sistema de riego

Esta clase divide el mantenimiento de plantas del desierto en dos categorías – poda y fertilización. Todas las instrucciones acerca de la poda están basadas en las recomendaciones de La Asociación Internacional De Arboricultura y se usan transparencias  y ejemplos con cortes de madera del árbol para explicar mejor los puntos principales del instructor  acerca de la poda. La sección de fertilización  se enfoca en las necesidades de las plantas por micronutrientes y micronutrientes  para seleccionar el fertilizante correcto y como calcular la cantidad adecuada del fertilizante para la compra y aplicación.

Los estudiantes aprenderán acerca de algunos  de los organismos que afectan  a las plantas en los jardines.  Manejo Integral de pestes (IPM) y controles  culturales  serán  discutidos.

Esta clase se enfoca en: Reconocer los factores que causan que las plantas no se desarrollen sanas o mueran en los jardines. Y como evitar o corregir estos problemas.

Esta clase se enfoca en: Identificación de los insectos más comunes (pestes) y otras especies de animales que pueden representar un problema en los jardines; hábitat y condiciones climatológicas que atraen o repelen las plagas y enfermedades.

Conceptos básicos de control de malas hiervas en jardines y campos deportivos (zacate)  (1) ciclo de vida de las hierbas y en que estación del ano aparecen  (2)  Entender el método más efectivo de cómo prevenir las hierbas  (pre-emergentes) y erradicación de hierbas  (post emergente)  (3)  Herbicidas selectivos  vs. Herbicidas no selectivos (4) formulaciones y recomendaciones especiales para su aplicación.

Esta clase se enfoca en los principios y conceptos de diseño e instalación de jardines. Dándole especial atención a jardines en la categoría de  Xeriscape y remodelación de jardines con un alto uso del agua por uno de bajo uso del agua. Los estudiantes aprenderán  a interpretar los planos de diseños de jardines.  Diseños de jardines eficientes que toman en cuenta y evitan los incendios, como por ejemplo jardines que dirigen el agua de lluvia y aprovechan el agua de lluvia, y toman en cuenta las épocas del año.
